Jessica you will love this! This French movie depicts the life of Edith Piaf and her battle to sing and fight her illness. And plus Marion Cotillard is a really good actress:) It's a must watch! Cant wait to get my hands on the originals when it is released.

During my literature tuition today, we were forced to read about this poem but surprisingly, i love it so I am not gonna be selfish and share it with you guys:)

Variations on the Word Love
by Margaret Atwood

This is a word we use to plug
holes with. It's the right size for those warm
blanks in speech, for those red heart-
shaped vacancies on the page that look nothing
like real hearts. Add lace
and you can sell
it. We insert it also in the one empty
space on the printed form
that comes with no instructions. There are whole
magazines with not much in them
but the word love, you can
rub it all over your body and you
can cook with it too. How do we know
it isn't what goes on at the cool
debaucheries of slugs under damp
pieces of cardboard? As for the weed-
seedlings nosing their tough snouts up
among the lettuces, they shout it.
Love! Love! sing the soldiers, raising
their glittering knives in salute.

Then there's the two
of us. This word
is far too short for us, it has only
four letters, too sparse
to fill those deep bare
vacuums between the stars
that press on us with their deafness.
It's not love we don't wish
to fall into, but that fear.
this word is not enough but it will
have to do. It's a single
vowel in this metallic
silence, a mouth that says
O again and again in wonder
and pain, a breath, a finger
grip on a cliffside. You can
hold on or let go.

I am gonna discuss a really sensitive topic today and it's at your own risk to read it. Please do not pass unnecessary comments and make sure you ponder over what i had said before passing judgment nor come to a conclusion. I have thought about this issue long enough to write this entry. It is starting to irritate my poor nerves and here I am today giving my opinion on the equality of the sexes.

Let's not talk about women being on the top of the career ladder, and many other women figures that has impacted our lives with their great doings and charitable acts. Yes, certainly there are women that i look up to, my mum, aunt, grandmother etc. And on a more random note, you can hear me echoing Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Princess Diana, Mother Theresa etc.

Women are more passionate. Women are born to be emotional. Women are born to have mood swings. Women are born to be able to show their feelings.

Men are supposed to be less emotional. Men are supposed to be in full control of their mood. Men aren't suppose to show their feelings.

How possible can there be equality between men and women? While women may argue that they deserve equality in these days, they are fighting a losing battle.
On that issue, I will argue that why is it that women sees themselves as the appropriate figure to have mood swings? being emotional? Why cant men feel this way too? Have you asked yourself? Here you are seeking equality, there you are expecting something out of a male figure and expecting them to behave in a way you would not. On the right note, didn't we started this whole issue about being equal? Being the same? Being able to react and behave in the same manner? why are men not entitled to be emotional? mood changes? Because they are deem as a masculine figures?

Masculine
meaning having qualities traditionally ascribed to men, as strength and boldness. So how then did humans actually came out with the understanding that being masculine means not suited to show their inner emotions. That's a whole load of bull-shit.

I am sick and tire of hearing people saying:"
Why do you have mood swings like women? How can a man cry? How can you show your feelings so easily?" (certainly some are from my own experience but also a mix of those you watch on television)
Knock knock! Sounds familiar? Have you ever yell out that line? or even had a thought about this about your boyfriend, your friend?
The society we are brought up in, the ways children are encourage to behave in such a manner. And here in our ever changing modern society, women are thought to be independent, challenging male authorities, in fact strive to be on the same par. Yes, on this area, i agree that women should move out of men's shadows and try to gain a more prominent status in society.

It is torturous to see women in many undeveloped countries suffering from the tyranny of men's control and that certainly we should put an end to it. Give women their due rights.
However in developed countries, we face problems that we are ashame of. Ironically seeking for equality but often not doing a reality check on themselves. Be bold, be courageous to show emotions and in fighting for equality, we should fight off stereotypes that we are brought up to believe. We have to create an identity that is equal and not argue for more from the other sex. If we cant even fight off such beliefs and still uphold such ethics that has transcend through different generations, than on my last note, I will say that men and women can never be equal. Face the harsh reality.
To begin with, our body structures, our duties towards society, the expectations from the society is indeed incomparable. So why the persistent fight against men when women themselves have certain institutions about men.

Start equality by doing inner self reflection. Believing that both sexes are entitled to their own liking of behaviors and not attaching beliefs to others when you, yourself behave in a certain manner that you expect the opposite sex not to.

P.s: This entry can be bias and you may choose to reflect upon it after reading it or start hating me for refusing to acknowledge that men and women are equal. I may not be the appropriate person to argue on such a sensitive issue because i am believed to be double standard in the first place and certainly threading along the line of being a MCP.

A really interesting quote to end off this entry.
"People say that eyes are windows to the soul."
-extracted from the novel " The Kite-runner"

Joke of the day(and thanks to Jessica)

Difference among girls aged 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58, 68:

8 - you take her to bed and tell her a story.

18 - you tell her a story and take her to bed.

28 - you dont have to tell her a story to take her to bed.

38 - she tells you a story and take you to bed.

48 - you tell her a story to avoid going to bed.

58 - you stay in bed to avoid her story.

68 - if you take her to bed, that will be a story.

78 - if you take her to bed... thats the end of the story.

Britney may be every bit insane and crazy right now. Everything does boil down to that crappy marriage she had and would regret for her life. K-Fed(ex) is just a money digger! Trust him to look after the babies? Absolutely NO! NO! NO! The court should f-ing jolly well just put these two "adorable mistake"(quoted from Sarah Silverman) up for adoption. I mean well, Angelina Jolie would not mind adopting another one though. But i wouldn't recommend, that's for sure!

Let's cross our finger that the ship doesnt sink anytime, or we won't have any more fat mama on tv :'( MUMMY!!!

He's definitely a MAN! No! A woMan!

Imitations! Quite good though. I thought better!

I must say that britney does have the courage to come on global television with that kind of outfit. Yeah! Skinny girls are out! Fat mamas are In!
*MTV clearly made use of britney to garner viewership rates! Clearly no one would allow an insane woman up the stage!

It was an attempt writing poetry for one of my literature tuition class. I am quite satisfy with the feedback from my peeps! I never knew how a poet understand his/her readers feelings and thoughts about reading a poem. Till I realise that it was all about reading from a whole new perspective and understanding oneself better from others'.

So I've decided to share it with you guys and I am sure Shi Hui will appreciate it:)

August Sunflower-ed
by SJ Ong

I gave you something red.
Petals enclosed.
It pricks, till I bleed.

It was then hanged.

Drowning in the air
The Life
The Roses
It dried & died.
Attracting a moth
Like death.

So,
I got you Sunflower, instead,
in August.
Huge unlike roses
Yellowish bright like the Sun
Shinning with hope
Butterflies dancing
On the petals,
that looked so small
but magnanimous.

This time you ask me
Whether if you could grow it
in a pot.
I smiled.

Because I know
At least my love won't be hanged.

I was sad. I am sad. The reason why everything upsets me is because I cannot seem to find the source of sadness. So am I still entitled to feel unhappy? No one can ever understand me because it seems I have kept a big part of my life only to myself? Everything eventually escalate within me and now finally it has successfully spiral out of control. So many futile attempts to stop feeling this way. I am starting to hate life. Carefully structuring it the way I want it to end. I want to see faces of angels in my sleep. No, I wanted it! It was unfair! I didn't want things to happen this way. I wanted "me" to die, but I cant just stand and hope that life will go easy on me. So I let it happen the way I wanted it to be.

I can't take my mind of you. You're death. So I shall make a pact that eventually we will meet up soon. You're the only one that could take the pain away. I am sorry for not being there for you and now desperately finding you. I feel torn inside.

Listen.
